The Chair Jean Monnet “EU Horizons Unveiled: History, Rights and the External Dynamics of the European integration” invites you to the lecture by H.E. Alexandros Papaioannou, ambassador of Greece to the Federal Republic of Germany on:

Navigating the new security landscape: contemporary challenges for Europe

​The lecture is taking place in the context of the postgraduate course “EU institutions and history” of the “European Studies” double degree MA. It will be held in amphitheater A (ground floor, LEPS building) and is open to all students.

 Alexandros Papaioannou studied International Relations at the London School of Economics and holds a Master’s degree in European Politics and Management from the College of Europe. He is a diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece and has served in the Embassies of Rome, Moscow, the Holy See, Tunis, as well as in the Permanent Representation to the European Union. He also worked in the offices of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Minister of International Economic Affairs and Development Aid, and as a diplomatic advisor to the Alternate Minister for Citizens Protection on migration issues. He has worked for many years as a Policy Advisor in the Policy Planning Unit in the Office of the Secretary General of NATO and then in the NATO Directorate of Political Affairs and Security Policy, where he was primarily concerned with relations with the EU. He was also the press spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Representative of Greece to International Organizations in Geneva and subsequently Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Foreign Minister. Since January 2025 he is the Greek ambassador to Berlin.
