The second application period for the joint (double degree) Master’s Program in “International Studies – specialization in European Studies” (academic year 2024-2025) is now open.


The MA Program “International Studies – specialization in European Studies” is offered by the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society (Dipartimento di Culture, Politica e Società) of the University of Turin. The Program awards two separate diplomas (double degree): a postgraduate diploma in “International Studies – Specialization in European Studies” awarded by the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki; and a postgraduate diploma “International Studies – Specialization in European Studies” (Scienze internazionali, profilo Studi Europei) awarded by the Dipartimento di Culture, Politica e Società of the Università degli Studi di Torino (UniTo).


The Program is offered in English, and it is addressed to graduates of higher education institutions who have completed at least their first cycle of studies. The duration of the Program is two years (the Program provides 120 ECTS). During the first year, all courses take place in Thessaloniki at the School of Political Sciences; during the second year, all courses take place in Turin by the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society of the University of Turin. Application procedure Candidates who have not yet completed the first cycle of their studies may submit their application now and will be invited to the exams. If successful, they will be offered a place conditional to their obtaining their degree before the start of the Program.
Applicants must send by e-mail to the Secretariat of the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (e-mail: info@polsci.auth.gr and cc msc-european_studies@polsci.auth.gr ) between Monday, June 24, and Sunday July 23, 2024. This e-mail should include the following documents (as attachments in .word, .pdf or .jpg format):

  1. A detailed cv in English.
  2. Copy of their degree(s) or of a certificate of completion of studies.
  3. A transcript with the analytical score for all their studies.
  4. A certificate of English language proficiency (at least C1 level), or a certification of previous university studies undertaken in English.
  5. A motivation letter of up to 500 words in English.

All prospective applicants who meet the minimum criteria set by the Study Program Committee will be notified by email by Friday, July 28, 2024, and will be invited to the written examination. According to the Program Regulation, the evaluation of each prospective postgraduate student is based on:
 an assessment of his/her CV and portfolio,
 a written examination, and
 a personal interview.


The written examination and the personal interview may be conducted online for applicants who cannot be present in Thessaloniki.


Applicants who are successful in the entry exams and are offered an unconditional offer will have to submit in person or send by courier the above accompanying documents 1-3 to the Secretariat of the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Applicants who are successful in the entry exams but have not yet received their Bachelor’s Degree will be offered a conditional offer with a set deadline to provide their degree.

Structure of the final exam

  • A two-hour written examination on the topic “European institutions” (in Greek or English, at the candidate’s choice).
  • A personal Interview in English. The interview aims to certify the candidate’s level of command of the English language, as well as his/her level of knowledge of the subject matter of the master’s degree.
